Silver, lead, timber, and some zinc and gold are all mostly located in Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara is one of the most leading industrial city of Honduras. There are also some hydroelectric power plants in Santa Barbara. Also, in Puerto Cortes , Honduras, there are some petroleum refineries. One of the leading exports of Honduras is coffee. Coffee export makes about 400 million dollars by itself! Honduras makes about 400 more million dollars on minerals and hydroelectric power, by exporting these resources to other countries.
The biggest shipment of these resources, are sent to U.S.A, its also shipped to other countries like Germany, and nearby countries like El Salvador and Guatemala. U.S.A is Honduras's biggest trade partner.
Honduras also imports lots resources such as, petroleum refined/gas and lots of wooden products with its import value over 50 million. As well as exporting, U.S.A is also Honduras biggest importing partner. Importing is very good for Honduras's economy because it creates jobs and it helps Honduras's get the resourced it needs to thrive and improve.
Currently there is a rule called PRORENA (Promotion of sustainable use of Natural Resources and Local Economic Development in Honduras) which promotes the preservation of natural resources. There is also a forestry law which manages the country's supply of timber. These resources are important to the environment as they contain habitats and homes for animals and trees provide fresh oxygen. But there are lots of processing factories that process these resources and pollute the air which is bad for the environment. There is no disagreement between those who want to preserve the land and resources and those who want to use it for economic gain because Honduras is poverty stricken and lots of people need money, so resources are used for economic gain to provide for the poverty stricken.
